Soteria Screening Laboratories offers 12 different types of urinalysis for drug testing. We offer two that are exclusively to check employees of the Department of Transportation. Besides those, we offer a variety of different tests. Each employer can select the urinalysis tests they want to use for the pre-employment test and/or for random testing if they do that. If you apply with one of our employers, they will refer you to a collection site where we will run the tests they have pre-selected. Furthermore, we will discuss the various drugs included in the screening. The term panel means drug being screened.
4-Panel Test
The 4-panel test screens for evidence of amphetamines, including:
- methamphetamines (also known as crystal meth)
- cocaine
- opiates (including heroin, codeine, and morphine)
- phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust) use. *Note: this particular drug test does not include screening for THC, marijuana, or alcohol.
5-Panel Test
This urinalysis test includes the 4 chemicals listed above as well as marijuana. There is also the 5-Panel + Alcohol if the employer wants to screen for alcohol use. Alcohol will stay in your system 3 to 4 days after ingestion, so some employers do not include it. They have no interest in knowing what the employee does during time off of work.
There is also a Rapid Results 5-Panel test which includes amphetamines (including methamphetamines, also known as crystal meth), cocaine, marijuana (THC, cannabinoids), opiates (including heroin, codeine, and morphine), and phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust). Please note: non-negative rapid result collections will be sent to the laboratory for confirmation testing. The 5-Panel + Expanded Opiates and Oxy tests for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana (THC), opiates (including heroin, codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, and oxycodone), and phencyclidine (PCP). This drug screening is becoming very popular as more and more people are developing an addiction to heroin and oxycodone.
9-Panel Test
The 9-Panel Test includes the 4 tests listed in the 4-Panel Test above as well as drug testing for barbiturates, benzodiazepines (such as Xanax), methadone, methaqualone (Quaaludes), and propoxyphene.
10-Panel Test
The 10-Panel Test is currently the largest drug test panel available. It may grow as the number of available drugs increases. This urinalysis testing is for amphetamines (including methamphetamines, also known as crystal meth), barbiturates, benzodiazepines (such as Xanax), cocaine, marijuana (THC, cannabinoids), methadone, methaqualone (Quaaludes), opiates (including heroin, codeine, and morphine), phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust), propoxyphene. The 10-Panel Rapid Result Test is available at select locations and any positive tests are sent to the laboratory for confirmation. The 10-Panel Test + Alcohol include alcohol screening and the 10-Panel + Expanded Opiates and Oxy tests for more formulations in the opioid family.
If you are on a job hunt, or if your current employer does random testing, keep in mind how long certain drugs can stay in your system. The ranges are based on the frequency of use. If you only take the drugs infrequently, defined as 1 to 2 times per week, the lower number will apply to you. If you use drugs daily and have for an extended period of time, the longer range will apply to you.
- Amphetamines (methamphetamines, crystal meth): up to 5 days
- Barbiturates: 24 hours up to 7 days
- Benzodiazepines (such as Xanax): 2-10 days
- Cocaine: 3 days – 2 weeks
- Marijuana (THC, cannabinoids): 1-21 days
- Methadone, Methaqualone (also known as Quaaludes): 2-13 days
- Opiates (such as heroin, codeine, and morphine): 8 hrs-5 days
- Phencyclidine (such as PCP, angel dust): 1day-2wks
- Propoxyphene: 12 hrs-10days
